Some time ago, Glenn Everhart reported a bug in VMS V4.5 which corrupts cluster mounted disks. The corruption occurs when the index file is extended by two processors at the same time. The corruption is comprehensive. I called Colorado to see if they had heard of the problem. They had not, so I told them to contact DEC Australia and find out. I just got called back. There is such a problem, it appears in V4.5, and an engineer is working on a patch right now. Cluster users, beware of index file extensions under V4.5. As Glenn suggested, restructure your disks _frequently_ with VMS BACKUP. Ed McGuire Grinnell College MCGUIRE@GRIN2.BITNET
