I get a few tapes each month from and IBM. The people at the other site are nice enough to put the tape in an ansi standard format. In this format I can simply mount the tape and do directories and copies from the tape to disk. My problem is that any file that has a file name with no extention comes up with quotes around it. If the file has an extention it doesn't. For example, if a do a DIR MSA0: on one of these tapes that has a file with an extention and one without, I get the following: "DA8244" DA.S9042PSN The copy command allows you to use quotes, so that's not the problem. The problem is that I can't do a COPY MSA0:*.* *.* to bring down all of the files to disk. I have to copy each one individualy and rename it to the same thing without the quotes. With a tape with 30 or 40 files it takes for ever to bring them all down. Any suggestions? Alan Sutter (ALAN@FANDM.BITNET) Franklin and Marshall College Lancaster, PA 17604, USA (717) 291-4005
