[mod.computers.vax] SI83-C disks vs SA482s

"j_hear.WBST207"@XEROX.COM.UUCP (03/21/87)

We are planning to add disk capacity. Our system includes an 8650 with
1 HSC50 supporting 1 TU78 and 8 RA81s.

We are currently considering adding 4 System Industry SI83-C drives or 4
DEC SA482 drives, and we're interested in any information that might be
available relative to their reliability and performance.

In light of the previous discussion on this DL about Fujtsu
"super-eagles", I am particularly interested in the reliability and
service on the SI83-Cs.

Thanks in advance,

Joe Heartberg

There was a recent message on INFO-VAX about Ingres not running properly
on Eagles. Did you catch it? You might ask your SI rep if they've fixed
the problem, if it existed...
