/Rumors about VMS 5.0 that I have heard is that DEC will support
/TCP/IP. Bundled or unbundled I don't know but I also heard
/that it is an in-house implimentation as opposed to a Wollengong
/or other third party version.
/
/Fact or Fiction?

I asked sales. They answered in writing. Translated into English the reply is:
"VMS version 5.x will offer no TCP/IP support"

I suppose this means Digital will support TCP/IP as a layered product or as
a separate server-like solution, since I do indeed understand
they are working on it.

A layered product would make sense given their new policy
no longer to introduce new facilities in products you pay maintenance for.
