[mod.protocols.appletalk] Maryland PC/IP conference

Ravinder.Chandhok@GANDALF.CS.CMU.EDU (11/08/85)

Although some of you may know about this already, U of Maryland is
hosting a (hopefully) NSF sponsered technical conference on
micro-computer implementations of TCP/IP. This will include both
PC/IP implementations and Mac/IP implementations. A few of us from
CMU will be going to show and tell the latest versions of TFTP,
TELNET, butcher's single board seagate, and also to talk about
general Mac to Internet problems. I hope to get someone from Apple
to come also. The Mac part of the conference will probably be 1/2
a day, with some of that devoted to presentations and the rest
open discussion and sharing of information.

The dates and topics are (at this point, somewhat tentatively):

Dec 4th : Yale is sponsering a general discussion on what other universities
are really doing to integrate PC's into campus networks. This day was added
on after the original conference announcement, and will be less technical
and more logistical. To quote: "The subject will be "Current Plans for
Campus Networking"; our intent is to learn what others are doing towards
integrating the proliferating hosts, terminals and PCs on campus. We have
requested presentations from Brown, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania
and Cornell and expect to have plenty of time for discussion"

Dec 5th : 9-5. Morning will be devoted to IBM PC/IP topics. The
afternoon's discussion will focus on MAc/IP software and hardware.

Dec 6th: 9-12 noon. Wrap up and general discussion.

I am only forwarding this info ( and somewhat setting up the AppleTalk
part), the people doing most of the work are at Maryland and Yale. Here are
the pertinent adresses :
