We at Reed college have a large ( >$100K ) amount of money to spend on networking in the near ( < 3 mo. ) future. Our current computing resources are an 11/785 and a large ( > 300 ) number of Apple Macintoshes ( we are one of the charter AUC schools ). We'd like to spend the money on applebus fileservers and ethernet gateways. Unfortunately, we can't seem to find any viable commercial products of this sort. It has to be a fully supported commercial product, as we don't have the personnel to develop and support it ourselves. So what we'd like to know is: Do such things exist? What is the price range? Will such things definitely be appearing in the next few months? PLEASE respond if you have any information -- if we don't get a good lead, we will be forced to go an entirely different route (XENIX workstations)... Thanks for your help, Bart Massey ...tektronix!reed!bart

Does anyone make a device which will allow an rs232 port to talk to the apple-bus? David G. Cantor ARPA: dgc@LOCUS.UCLA.EDU UUCP: ...!{ihnp4, randvax, sdcrdcf, ucbvax}!ucla-cs!dgc
