[mod.protocols.appletalk] rs232 - applebus

[In response to the difficulty in using rs-232 and Applebus laserwriter
interfaces simultaneously (user must power-cycle to switch)]

Is Apple aware of this problem? Perhaps they could be convinced to
upgrade the ROMS to fix this bug if it's a fixable in software.

Can the LaserWriter talk to the printer using Applebus and Ethernet
simultaneously? If this is possible then you could conceivably use your Vax
to do some spooling. If you can only use one of Ethernet, Applebus, or RS-232
then you will either have to get an Applebus card for your Vax, or get a
Seagate. Other than dedicating a Mac, the Seagate is really the best
solution. If somebody would develop code to provide Seagate functionality in
the LaserWriter (which apparently has the same hardware), then that would go a
long way toward solving your problems.)
