[mod.protocols.appletalk] U of Michigan AppleTalk Stuff

AppleTalkers ... Some things going on at the
Computing Center at the University of Michigan:

EFS :: Translated completely from SUMacC to Aztec
C. Undergoing testing with improved RS232 serial
communications to unix and IBM host software.
We'll send the results of this work back to Croft
when we're satisfied we've zapped the worst of the
badness we introduced in the translation.

Kinetics :: As we move to a new office suite in
the next two weeks we'll bring up a Fastpath on
the Center's Ethernet. The discussions here have
been interesting, our first attempts to telnet to
the vax/unix system were not successful but we'll
try again after the move.

Centram :: We hope to be testing Centram's TOPS
too. One of the hopes is that we can use an
AST-4000 as a file service for all the Macs and
some of the PCs too. Perfomance will be
interesting to monitor.

I mention all this not because it's wild or way
out, but to keep people informed in case of mutual
interests. INFO-APPLEBUS has warmed up a lot in
the last few weeks and this minor contribution is
a way to give as well as receive off the net.
