[mod.protocols.appletalk] EFS and Kinetics

scooter@genie.UUCP.UUCP (07/10/86)

We have installed a Kinetics box here to facility communications between our
Vaxen and our (many) Macintoshes. We would like to bring up EFS to allow
our users access to our large disk store on the Vaxes, but have encountered
a great deal of trouble getting EFS to talk to our Vax. We set things up
using the subnet scheme with a shift of 6 bits and a mask of 3. Our network
is a Class C. The Kinetics box bridges between Subnet 0 (the ethernet
backbone) and Subnet 1 (an appletalk network). When EFS prompts for host,
it seems like it should take 0,1 to talk to host 1 on subnet 0, but it
never gets across the gateway with this.

At any rate, has anybody successfully brought up EFS talking to Unix Vaxes??
And if so, how did you configure the Kinetics box?

BTW, Telnet and tftp work fine as it is currently configured.

Thanks in advance,
