CAP distribution 2.01 is now available. The major differences in this distribution are: o it now uses the Tappan/BBN routing code for the Kinetics bridge Thanks to Dan Tappan for integrating and contributing the code. o an experimental version of the AppleTalk Session Protocol is also available. o ddp now has checksumming available o nis has been renamed to the AppleTalk Information Server (atis) and incorporates the Tappan/BBN's masterbridge o CAP version of efsd now allows a mac to "open" more files than available file descriptors. o of course, all the previous patches to distribution 2 have been applied. This release should be of most interest to those with multiple Seagate/Kinetics bridges or BSD 4.3 systems. There are outstanding alignment problems in some of the modules which prevent correct functioning on machines other than VAX's (and possibly suns); in particular, there are problems using an IBM RT PC running ACIS 4.2BSD. Work is in progress to correct these deficencies.
