I have got a SEAgate box running with Cap D2 (with patches 1,2 &3). I have used the printer spooler successfully for a few weeks. I think CAP is a very nice piece of work, and of course the original seagate design is a very good base. As the patches for the gw-code was for the Kinetics-UDP-gw I modified the (seagate/croft) gw to be enuf similar to Kinetics to be able to apply the gw.patch[125]. I think it would be very nice if the seagate/kinetics udp-gw users could cooperate so that the (seagate) version could be more similar to the Kinetics. Of course my changes are available as a start if no one else already hasn't done it. (the changes are simple, like "#define K_PGET(x) p_get(x)", "#define ifie ifil", some reformatting etc) A minor thing in CAP: To get spooling to work on an appletalk with 2 LaserWriters I had to modify papif so that it looked on argv[0], and in printcap use a symlink (to papif) with the name of the printer the as the input filter. This is because our (4.2) lpd doesn't have a -p(rinter) switch to the input filter. ---- Hopefully I will install CAP D2.01 soon, if I can get it here... (life IS hard when you aren't on the ARPAnet). Then I'm going to buy (at least) two Kinetics boxes to be able to interconnect our other AppleTalks.
