I just got SU Mac IP in the mail and have a problem with the telnet implementation. I'm running on a MacPlus through a Kinetics Fastpath into a Sun 3/52. It seems that the <return> doesn't forward the typed line, but that clicking on the <lf> button at the top of the screen is what is required. If I have to keep using the mouse to enter lines I'll go bonkers. What am I doing wrong ? --- I like ftp and finger -- when will smtp arrive ? Gavin Eadie U of Michigan Computing Center

SU MacIP doesn't append LF after CR. It was never discovered because most of the telnet servers out there (except SUN3's) are smart enough to understand it as a newline. All SU MacIP disks sent out after April 7th should have this problem fixed. There is also another bug in TCP has been fixed. The timeout value for retransmission after connection established, is too small. It will give problem when connecting to a distant host. We don't set any specific date on SMTP for mac. We are now in the process of merging all MacIP applications into one program. So you can have multiple sessions active at once. Hopefully SMTP will be one of them. Andy
