I have put together a set of programs that let a UNIX host (running CAP) do an unattended backup of a Macintosh's hard disk. For those who want to play with this I've put the following files in anonymous ~/pub on mikey.bbn.com (128.89.0.148) macdump.shar - sources for the UNIX side dump and restore programs netbackup.hqx - the Macintosh programs and a MacWrite document describing the system. Caveats: The usual warnings and disclaimers apply. Consider this beta test (Check occasionally to be sure the dumps are really being done). This has been tested on Mac512K and Mac+, using either SCSI drives or the floppy port "Hard Disk 20". It hasn't been tested on a Hyperdrive and it probably won't work on an MFS volume. Dan Tappan BB&N
