[mod.protocols.tcp-ip] 1822/Ethernet gateway

RCLee@HI-MULTICS.ARPA ("Randy C. Lee") (11/20/85)

Currently the HI-Multics.ARPA machine is a directly connected to the U.
Wisc IMP by an H6000/1822 ABSI and a couple of ECUs. I would like to
talk the administrators into replacing this direct connection with
Multics hanging of the gateway as a host on a Class C network. To do
this, I need a gateway that can act a local host and talk to the UWisc
IMP via the ECUs. I guess that it also needs to be able act as an IMP
to handle the 1822 connection from Multics. Finally, it must be able to
support Ethernet with ARP.

Does such a creature exists?

A option would be to replace the LH/1822 box with a Multics HDH
connection. Does this help in any way?

Ideally, this gateway would run on a PDP 11/23, Sun, Apollo, or
Symbolics. However, I am not adverse to spending a little money for
another box if it is a supported product.

Please reply directly to me as I am not a regular member of this list.
Thanks.
