[mod.protocols.tcp-ip] name servers

nrh@DDNT.ARPA (Nat Howard) (12/01/85)

What do people use for name servers under 4.2 or 2.9+ BSD? I hacked
one together, but am just mature enough to want to use a standard one
if standard code is available.

The machines involved can't reach the Internet, so I can't depend on
servers there. What I'd really like is to hear that there's standard
4.2 stuff that I've simply missed in my search.

If it turns out there's no name server stuff available, and people
want mine, I suppose it could be made available.

Please send a copy of your reply to me, nrh@ddnt, as we occasionally
lose mod.protocols.tcp-ip on usenet (the netnews/notes gateway is
changing), but I don't want to miss anything.

Thanks, folks.

The Berkeley BIND domain server is distributed by Kevin Dunlap,
<kjd@monet.berkeley.edu> or <kjd@berkeley.arpa>. Contact him
for information. It runs on 4.2 and 4.3 BSD UNIX systems.
