I imagine Dave meant "recompute" (or even maybe "recomplete")
rather than "recompete" the table entries, but if not, does this
mean he's already doing something along the lines of Dan's suggested
name server trick (by letting the available entry slots get filled
in dynamically--and hence "competing" for them)?

Mike,

My choice of word was deliberate and, I believe, accurate.

I have had to take drastic action here, since congestion has sometimes
toppled our gateway and broken EGP connectivity. Specifically, I intend
to limit the number of nets per site in our backlot to one. I expect that
may precipitate a headlong dash for 4.3bsd for its subnet code. Apollo and
Sun, please take note.
