[mod.protocols.tcp-ip] X.25 may be off the hook

mills@udel.edu.UUCP (01/31/87)

Folks,

Upon receiving a report the PSC-GW gateway between the NSFNET and ARPANET
swamps was running much better, I peeked in and shot a few scatter
diagrams. The results are fantastic and seem to indicate the problems
I reported last month have been solved. As you may remember, scatter
diagrams revealed something wrong in the ACC 5250 interface, PSN or
X.25 implementation. I was worried that this might be symptomaniac of
a more pervasive problem; however, it seems at least the problem at PSC-GW
has been resolved. The delays and variance are down by a factor of ten
and the incremental bit rate is six times higher than when I last measured
it a few days ago.

It may be most interesting if either/both ACC or BBN representatives could
summarize for this list what the problem was and how it was resolved.

As usual, the Sun-format scatter diagrams are on udel2.udel.edu (192.5.39.88)
and can be retrieved with ftp/anonymous/guest from the file psc9.bit.
