Judging from the number of repsonses I received, I'm certainly not the only one receiving multiple copies of TCP-IP messages. I believe the problem can be isolated to SRI-NIC's mailer. Header info seems to indicate that SRI-NIC is receiving a single copy of each message, but for unknown reasons transmits two. This situation has existed for the better part of a year, at least. It is ironic that the mailing list which is most used to discuss the current state of net congestion is a contributor to it as well. Clive P.S. For the benefit of anybody who might (please!) be able to look into this, here is one recent example: Message 1 -- ************************ Return-Path: <tcp-ip-RELAY@SRI-NIC.ARPA> Received: from SRI-NIC.ARPA by MCC.COM with TCP; Mon 23 Mar 87 23:24:58-CST Received: from seismo.CSS.GOV by SRI-NIC.ARPA with TCP; Mon 23 Mar 87 15:27:27-PST Received: from munnari.oz by seismo.CSS.GOV (5.54/1.14) with UUCP id AA18131; Mon, 23 Mar 87 18:26:22 EST Message-Id: <8703232326.AA18131@seismo.CSS.GOV> Received: from labtam (via mulga) by munnari with SunIII (5.5) id AA03707; Tue, 24 Mar 87 00:54:01 EST Received: by labtam (4.12/1.7) id AA07943; Mon, 23 Mar 87 23:55:31 +1000 Date: Mon, 23 Mar 87 23:55:31 +1000 From: Michael Podhorodecki <munnari!labtam.oz!michael@seismo.CSS.GOV> To: tcp-ip@sri-nic.arpa Subject: PC LANs, NETBIOS and UNIX ...
