( _DDN[TCP-IP@SRI-NIC] ) CC: FRANK M WOODALL ( WOODALL ) CC: BRIAN C. BRAZIEL ( BRAZIEL ) CC: BARBARA J LINN ( LINN ) CC: HERBERT SPIES ( SPIES ) Subject: Need Info on SMTP Is there a Public Domain version of SMTP ( both Client and Server ) available? As you can tell by the headers on this message, we are using DEC's ALL-IN-1 and Wollongong's WIN/VX. The interface between ALL-IN-1 and WIN/VX is a local mod to an ALL-IN-1 script. All of the ALL-IN-1 mail features such as FORWARD, AUTOANSWER, READ RECEIPT, etc. are not supported, or should I say, do not work. After some investigation, we have decided that the best way to provide these services is to write SMTP servers/clients that know about ALL-IN-1. Has any work been done in this area? Any knowledge/source for SMTP code would at least prevent us from having to write SMTP code from scratch. Please reply to me directly. I will provide any responses to interested parties upon request. Calvin, you might check with Los Alamos. They have an All-in-one connection to unix mail which seems to work. dennis -------
