** the starting line ** The seat belt interlock "feature" which would not allow starting the car until the front seat passenger(s) buckled up came and went with the model '74 year of all cars. There were a number of cars retained this feature in '75. If you are in doubt you can check with your dealer or check out the wiring diagram in the shop manual for the car. If you have one of these, it could indeed be causing your problem. Another possibility is the solenoid is flakey. The click you hear when you turn the key is the sound of the solenoid closing. They frequently fail by not making contact and not connecting the battery to the starter. As usual with electrical intermittants, all connections are suspect too. Last, some cars have a clutch pedal lockout which won't let you start the car unless the clutch pedal is depressed. If your car has this feature the clutch switch is also suspect. Good luck. R.M.
