I'm in the market for a new US car, and I'm really interested in ABS. Since the implementation is fairly new, I wondering if anyone out there yet has any experience. On foreign cars, I know that Mercedes, BMW,AUDI, and perhaps a Japanese car or two are starting to carry them. On US cars, last year the MARKVII had random availability; this year GM is beginning to offer them in the following cars (to the best of my knowledge, based on a recent IEEE Spectrum article: Corvette: technology is apparently different than all other GM cars; presumably, then the technology on the others is standard ITT Teves, as we have seen advertised on TV in the past few months. OLDS 98 (Unfortunately, not on the new Toronado; the 98 is not really sporty enough for me). BUICK: Electra and Le Sabre (haven't seen these yet). Ponntiac 6000 STE: I've seen these on the highway; they seemed a bit smaller than the 98, but I believe that if you equip them comparably, they price out the same; seem like less car for the money. CADDILAC: I believe one model (perhaps the Eldorado ???) will also have this system; but a bit rich for my tastes. -------------------------------------------------------- If anyone knows of other GM cars that plan on introducing these brakes, I would appreciate hearing of them. Any options to pick up or to avoid would also be interesting (the OLDS people will apparently allow you to extend your warranty indefinitely (?) for not too many dollars; is this worth it?? ) Thanx in advance, Ihor Kinal {hru3c | hou2a} ! ijk
