I noticed today that the neighbourhood CHEVRON gas pump has "with Techroline" written on pumps that vend unleaded and super unleaded variety of gas. My question is what is techroline and what does it do? (i.e. is it an octane booster or a detergent etc.) Also, what effect does it have on all the fuel hoses ? My owner's manual (1984 Honda Civic) explicitly prohibits use of gas containing Methanol or more than 10% ethanol. Someone told me that Methanol or too much of ethanol was bad for all the plastic in fuel lines and other parts in the fuel system. Since I do not know what the composition of techroline is, I am wondering what effects, if any, does it have on the longevity of my car. Changing gears a bit, I am planning to change the coolant in my car. It has Aluminum engine. The owner's manual threatens of corrosion setting in if 1) coolant/water ratio is below 40/60 (they reccommend to keep it 50/50) or, 2) the coolant used is not of proper type. I can take care of the 50/50 ratio part of it. What brand is good from anti-corrosion point of view. Is Prestone okay? Please send e-mail. I will summarize for net if there is enough interest. A Dodge dealer in PA gave me a copy of a list he had as to what was in the major gasoline brands. Basically, most of the majors are OK except for Arco. He also indicated that in at least his location most of the independents bought Arco gas, so I just use Mobile Super or Sunoco Super or Ultra in my GLH Turbo. If I get industrious enough, I'll post a list of the gasses and whats in them. mikey at bbimg ps. 55, it's not just a good idea, it S*CKS!! pss. It seems to me that adding an additional box at the top of the rear window for a brake light would be an EXCELLENT location for a disguised radar detector!!!!!!
