*OK, all you turbo freaks...I've got a problem. My '79 Saab turbo has approx 80,000 miles, runs great and get decent milage. It burns no oil at all, except under one circumstance... After a prolonged (40 mile) high speed run (60~80mph), when I slow down for normal traffic and stop, oil smoke comes out of the exhaust as if I were working for the mosquito abatement department. The engine doesn't smoke at any other time, compression and leak-down tests show the engine to be weel within specs, and and the performance hasn't suffered at all. Yes, I'm sure it's oil smoke ( I've been spinning wrenches for approx 20 years, both for love and money), and the amount of oil consumed by this behavior is minimal. This car is my first turbo, so naturally I am suspicious of that piece of hardware. Seems to me that the smoking only happens during high cyclinder vacuum (idle or very slow rpms), and only after high rpm operation. I suspect the turbo oil seal, for these reasons. Can any of you technoids either find a hole in my logic, or perhaps, have a similar experience? I'd reall appriciate any help, as I love the car (even though it's my wife's) and really can't afford to replace it. Thanks, in advance, for your help John Rosberg ihuxi!rosberg
