I don't think (concurring with mberns here) it matters what filter you use, as long as you use a "major brand." The important thing is to change that oil REGULARLY. I change my oil ALND filter every 3000 miles, PERIOD, and use the best oil I can find, hopefully a CC/CD-rated oil. Those little plastic oil bottles are nice, aren't they? Now, if they would just make the necks a little longer! I noticed something interesting in my mom's '86 Celebrity (V6). There is a bundle of wires about an inch in diameter that passes under the oil filter, coming in contact with about half the filter's circumference. This bundle can not be relocated, and cuddles the filter quite snugly. My question is, does the heat coming from the filter when hot oil is flowing through it pose any threat to these wires? Any personal replies may or may not be answered, given the unreliability of my UUCP mailing system. Try, anyway, or post here.
