At some point a while back, Yasser Seirawan, a very exciting young chess player was ranked 11th in the world. (or so someone claimed) Does anyone have any news on how he is doing now? chongo <> /\../\ -- no comment is a comment.

As of August 20, Yasser Seirawan is still in the running in the process that will produce a challenger for the world championship in 1986. Seirawan qualified for the Candidates Tournament by taking second place in the third Interzonal Tournament, which was held in Biel, Switzerland. Rafael Vaganian and Andrei Sokolov also qualified by placing first and third, respectively, in that Interzonal. Another qualifier was to be determined in a playoff among John Van der Wiel, Eugenio Torre, and Nigel Short, who shared fourth place.
