Very disappointing performance. They either suffered from a lousy mix
or they should just keep away from live performances. I especially
liked the close-up on the bassist during "Two Tribes," when what
ever the bassist was playing couldn't even be heard! Frankie's
(is that him?) voice isn't all that amazing, certainly not worthy
of being placed so "up front" in the mix.
As far as their "Born to Run" cover, RETTTCCCHHHH!! Maybe Bruce
will comment on it (I haven't heard the album version, but I suspect
its similar). Frankie took one of the best songs of the 70's and
completely butchered it for the 80's. I guess I'll stick to my
old records...
On the topic of meaningless lyrics (or maybe funny songs)?, has
anyone out there heard either "I like them Big and Stupid"
(I met a guy, he drives a truck. He's not very smart, but he sure
can ... drive), or "The Homecoming Queen has got a Gun" (maybe the
titles are wrong; they're both done by the same singer). Anyway,
really hilarious music-- it's been getting some airplay on 'BCN
in Boston.
