Why? *** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** I was so impressed with the two demonstrations of the AMIGA that I saw that I dumped off my Macintosh and am waiting with anticipation to see what Amiga software developers can come up with. The Electronic Arts demo has a digitized womans voice that had 6 engineers looking for the hidden tape recorder! I have a few questions directed to Lavitsky@Rutgers. Can anyone give me a usenet path to contact Rutgers? What quality and quantity of documentation did Commodore give in the developers manual? Was the monitor you received the high resolution one found in the ads, or the low resolution one I saw with the two demos :-(. Mono sound and flicker are not for me! In particular does the monitor flicker when interlaced or streak when non-interlaced. What version of the OS did you get? I have seen version 28.14! Please list all software that came with the developers kit. Any example programs in C or 68K ASM? Could you please describe the C compiler. Let's hope the Amiga catches on with the general public and becomes supported as the next generation computer that it is!!!! -- Rich Rodgers tektronix!iddic!richr

I have several questions about the Amiga... o What is the C compiler (and assembler) like? Is it's code fast? o If (or should I say when) I get an Amiga, can I get the developers package for it? (and how much is it?) I've herd that for the Atrai 520ST all you need to do is send them the serial number of your computer and the money, and they send you the package. o I know that they won't be publicly released for a few weeks yet, but is there a reliable mail-order company that I will be able to get one from? (There's only one dealer in town, and they say they won't get any 'til around October) o I've heard that there is a 1200 baud modem for it, how much is it? I'm sure I'll think of some more questions but for now these will do... Mike Rendell michael3@garfield.UUCP

Hi, Unfortunately, I received a non-interlaced monitor, and I haven`t tried using the 640x400 interlaced mode on it. I will post one or two of the C examples that came with my system soon. The latest OS version that I have is 28.11 ! Eric -- ARPA: LAVITSKY@RUTGERS UUCP: ...{harvard,seismo,ut-sally,sri-iu,ihnp4}!topaz!eric SNAIL: 16 Oak St., Flr 2 New Brunswick, NJ 08903

Is this the standard monitor available as part of the Development System, or did they just ship the wrong one to you? I've just sent in my bucks to Commodore/Amiga for my development system, and I am planning to use the 640x400 interlaced mode. I was hoping for the a monitor that can handle the interlaced mode. -- Louis A.
