Does anybody know whether Commodore will be offering discounts to university staff/faculty/students who wish to buy Amigas? Will there be something along the lines of the Apple University Consortium program? I couldn't find anyone here who knew. The machine seems reasonably priced but I would still be upset if I bought one for $1295 and then the CMU computer store started selling them for $800 or something similar. Dan

Hi,
I don't know of any specific plans for educational discounts, but...
Commodore has a good reputation in being concerned with the educational
market (with PETs and 64s). Developers are getting ~400 of the list
price and don't have to pay extra sales tax. Rutgers has applied for
a developers system for it's Microlab, I'm sure if enough schools
express interest to Commodore, they will offer some discounts. I think
it unlikely that they will do it right from the start though...they
should have no problems selling all the machines they can produce
right now...
Eric
