[net.micro.amiga] printer warning - hot connectors

hamilton@uiucuxc.CSO.UIUC.EDU (10/07/85)

just got a call from my dealer warning me NOT to connect a printer
to my amiga. of course, _I_ had read the manual, but apparently
another customer somewhere fried his printer with a garden variety
(ibm-standard?) cable. so, in case you just skimmed that section,
note that the amiga exports some power supply (-5v, +5v, +12v?) thru
just about ALL the connectors. if you're not up to making your own
cables, be CAREFUL about adapting what you have lying around; don't
just assume it's safe.

if anyone else near the U of Illinois is still looking for an amiga,
"computer resolutions" in champaign ("farm aid") il has ~4 left in
stock, with 30 more in the pipeline (ask for "larry").
