As a firmware developer at Tektronix I would assume that any flicker at all would cause some problems. I can't picture sitting in front of a screen for any length of time and expect to have a mind left if I was editing text that flickered. In the intermediate resolution mode (680 x 200) I would expec the text to look like the IBM PC w/ the color card. I would hardly call that a nice font to work with. I was wondering if a text font modification could help the problem.

i finally succeeded in opening a 640x400 custom screen last nite. (the intuition manual says to use manifest constant "INTERLACE" to select 400 lines; after searching thru header files, i find "LACE" is the right one). i was real disappointed with the result, particularly on horizontal lines. the drag bar on my window was awful. this was on a 1080 monitor; does that mean the 1080 has lower persistance than the 1070? wayne hamilton UUCP: {ihnp4,pur-ee,convex}!uiucdcs!uiucuxc!hamilton ARPA: hamilton@uiucuxc.cso.uiuc.edu CSNET: hamilton%uiucuxc@uiuc.csnet USMail: Box 476, Urbana, IL 61801 Phone: (217)333-8703
