[net.micro.amiga] MIDI support

Here's one for Commodore-Amiga to answer:

Where did the MIDI baud rate go?

When I got a demonstration of the Amiga in the store, the salesperson selected
[Prefer(?)ences] and stepped through the serial baud rates, 110, 300, ...,
19200, MIDI(!). I'm very interested in interfacing to a KORG Poly-800
synthesizer that I own, so naturally I thought to myself, 'this is the machine
I've been looking for: MIDI interface built-in'. After a week of playing with
ABasiC windows and upgrading my Epson printer with Graphtrax for TextCraft,
I pulled up [Prefer(?)ences] and stepped through the baud rates, 110, 300, ...,
19200, 110(!!!). Where did MIDI go? I know I'm beginning to sound like a
chronic complainer, but is MIDI now an option? If so, why was it in the demo?
If it's not an option why isn't the baud rate in [Prefer(?)ences]? I'm
confused and getting frustrated.

The MIDI baud rate is in the system, but the feeling was that it was
too confusing to folks to have it in the Preferences selection. Any
MIDI software can select MIDI baud rate directly from the serial device
and then return to the Preferences selected baud rate when done.

The V1.1 software includes significant enhancements to the serial device
including CTS/RTS (7-wire) flow control support, and much more reliable
high-baud rate transfers.
