From Chairman of Help Stamp Out Joke Filler Lines Committee: I tried the SetLace.c program yesterday. While it makes the scan lines go away there is some indefinable fuzziness almost as if the monitor was out of focus. Also I can see an effect that looks like vibration on the edges of horizontal lines such as in the title bar of intuition screens. It would make me feel queasy to stare at this for extended periods of time. I think I will go back to non interlaced mode and use the screen with black characters on an amber background that I have used so far. With dark characters on a light background you see scan lines on the background but the characters look better formed because the scan lines between pixels are also dark. Choose the colors you p prefer but dark on light always looks better. I don't really think Amiga's default colors in Intuition are optimum for extended viewing. Green or Amber are psychologically better. (Did I spell that right?). To the contributor spreading rumors about Amiga changing the design to refresh at 60Hz: It seems to me it can't be as simple as that. This would require a line scan rate of double the present 15750 Hz and would require a new monitor. Mike Gingell ....decvax!mcnc!ecsvax!mjg
