As far as I can tell, the contents of the "small add-on board" that allows a generic 5 1/4 drive to be connected to the Amiga, is no more than an AND gate... By cross-referencing the details of the drive connector and the disk controller chips, all the signals on a standard IBM type drive are there, except for the difference in the drive select and motor select lines. The Amiga has only one motor select line, but separate select lines for each external drive. The IBM spec says each drive has unique select lines for both functions... So, if you are only connecting one external 5 1/4, it doesn't matter, and all you need is a power suppy for the drive. If you have an external 3 1/2, and want an external 5 1/4, all you need is an AND gate to generate the missing motor select. Do I have this right? Has any one else looked at this? Rick
