I just got my pre-release version of ELCom's ElTerm data communications package. I've seen and used MaxiCom and when the creators of MaxiCom see ElTerm, they'll wish they had learned how to program. ElTerm has both KERMIT and XMODEM built in. It offers as complete an ansi terminal emulation as the AMIGA does. Also, other terminal emulations are included. And...to make the terminal emulations complete...the keyboard is fully reprogrammable using AMIGADos's keymap routines. Remapping also allows command strings to be loaded into the AMIGA function keys. I've been happily up and down loading files using KERMIT getting an aggre- gate baud rate of around 800 baud with a 1200 baud modem. Not too shabby. ElCom put out TERM+ and KERMIT64. Both are distributed free with commodore modems. ElTerm, alas, will not be free (but close). The price will be around 50 dollars. ElCom seems to be doing things right. Even distributing termcap and terminfo entries tailored for the 80 x 25 emulations ElTerm offers. For more information I'd write to ElCom Software 16 Oak St. #2 New Brunswick, N.J. 08901 Perry ------------------------------- These opinions are my own and unsolicited from ElCom.
