From: jef@lbl-rtsg.arpa Dear Commodore/Amiga, I ordered an Amiga on the 21st of October. On the 7th of November, a large package arrived on my doorstep. Oh ho, says I. That was quick. Imagine my surprise upon opening the box to find all the hardware I ordered, but none of the software. Nada. Not even a Kickstart disk. Not even any manuals to read. Well, I sighed, they're probably shipping it separately or holding it for a few days to get me a new version or something. Or something. For the next SIX WEEKS, my beautiful Amiga sat on my beautiful oak veneer desk, next to my beautiful Sony KV20XBR monitor, and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I heard various rumours from friends of friends and on the Usenet about version 1.1, but no hard information was available. Then, finally, two weeks ago came the word: version 1.1 is finished! Developer's kits are shipping! Oh joy! Mine arrived today. The disks are version 1.0. The manuals are version 1.0 with a total of NINETY PAGES of errata. Commodore/Amiga, can you please tell me why I had to wait six weeks to get something you had all along? And can you please tell me when and how I am going to get version 1.1 of the disks and the manuals? And please, PLEASE, tell me what I should tell my friends, who are considering buying an Amiga, but who will be more than a little hesitant when they hear about this fiasco. Sincerely, Jeffrey A.
