From: Mike (I'll be mellow when I'm dead) Meyer <mwm%ucbopal@BERKELEY.EDU> Having just got both my Amiga and the printer (a jx-80), I have a couple of questions. First, am I the only one who can't convince NotePad to behave reasonably in graphics print mode? For instance, it tends to print garbage (tops of some lines, with nothing between them) in any graphics print mode except "small". The "white" paper color isn't white when you print it on any printer setting I could find. Also, I can't seem to make it quit once it has started. Finally, I can't seem to convince notepad to put the text into a text file so I can get real tools on it. Is NotePad really a piece of trash? Second, having got this spiffy color printer, it would be nice to have something to print that actually uses the color capabilities. Program listings just don't cut it. Anybody got any suggestions? The "print" command in the PolyScope demo doesn't do anything, and I'm afraid to try running Notepad with odd-colored pens and/or paper. Third, given the amount of time it takes the system to boot, I'm tempted to leave it on all the time (with the monitor off, of course). However, it's accessing of empty disk drives at regular intervals bothers me. Could someone who knows state whether leaving disks in the 3 1/2" drives will chew them up like it does with 8" disks? Finally, a simple question that will probably be answered when the local dealer gets the AmigaDos manuals in stock. How do I copy a set of preferences from one disk to another, without copying the whole tool? Also, what do I need to leave around for the preferences to work, assuming that I don't have the tool? Thanx, <mike
