Regarding replacing 68000 with 68010 Maybe we could get dealers to do this upgrade to avoid voiding the warranty. The 1.1 kickstart supports 68010/68020 style processors. In particular the 68020 cache is turned on at power on. There are some flags in ExecBase that describe processor type. Speed improvements for 010 of 1-3% is about all we've seen for typical programs. The 68020 itself gives about a 35% boost to amiga. Wait for new stuff from CSA, they will probably be able to double the speed of a standard AMIGA. The speed improvements really depend on what you are running. Disk based stuff is not going to be much faster no matter what you do. Problems we've seen with 68010/68020: The 1.1 calculator is useless. It was written using lattice-c and there is a move sr, in the lattice library some where. There will be a new calculator in the next release. I believe the 3.03 lattice compiler/libraries has fixed this.
