I have an Atari 800 and have done lots of programming on it.
In order to get a decent character set with no color-aliasing
on a standard TV, the charset is designed using pairs of
pixels, very similar to the methods suggested for reducing
ficker on the AMIGA.

A ------> XX
XXXX
XX XX
XXXXXX
XX XX
XX XX
When I am using a good monochrome monitor, I can load in a
different character set, with much finer lines, and therefore
prettier characters.

A ------> X
X X
X X
XXXXX
X X
X X
Why not do the same thing for the AMIGA, but in reverse. Get
into the character set, and edit it so that there is never a
single pixel vertically.
I assume this is possible. I don't have an AMIGA or I would try
it. My letter 'A' was not a pretty example but if someone does
try this I would like to know about the results. This should
solve the flicker in the high res. text.
