I am not sure that it would be a good idea to combine all icons in one file per directory. This would make things a bit harder for your own code to mess around with icons - you'd have to know a bit more about the file structure to do so. Rather than spending time on this, Commodore should work on speeding up the drives, not necessarily in hardware, probably by just doing a bit more software caching. I liken combining all the icons into one to "notes" vs. "news". I've just moved to a "notes" system, and while the "notes" interface is a bit better than "news", it is a bit harder to use if, say, you want to grep for something - since "notes" are all in one file, while "news" is in several.

There should be no reason not to have the Kickstart disk on the winchester as well, right? I mean it can't be more than 256K??? :-) :-) And when a new Kickstart came out you'd just plop it right over the old one on the hard disk. There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to do this. -Rusty- ================================================================ *hardcopy* *electr{onic, ic}* Rusty Haddock ARPA: Haddock%TI-CSL@CSNET-RELAY.ARPA POB 226015 M/S 238 CSNET: Haddock@TI-CSL Texas Instruments Inc.
