Subject: MONITOR FOR THE AMIGA

When I ordered my Amiga I didn't order a monitor, planning to get the Sony
Trinitron model KV1311CR (the one that has an RGB port). It's been very
difficult to find this Sony. What are some good monitors that will work
well with the Amiga at high resolution?

I have found that a DEC VR241 monitor (goes with VT240 terminals & color
Pro 350's ?) makes a superb monitor for the Amiga. It's a good deal
sharper than the Amiga monitor (or the Sony), and I think the colors are
more brilliant. On the Amiga monitors I've seen, the colors always seemed
slightly pastel, giving a 'washed out' appearance to the images, and I
prefer what my monitor shows. Maybe this was just due to how the monitor
controls were set though...

The aspect ratio on the VR241 is a little different. While playing with
DPAINT and drawing some things I noticed that circles and squares really
displayed as circles and squares, not ellipses and rectangles. I thought
this a nice touch.

Unfortunately, I do not know how much one of these monitors costs, or just
how available it is. I sort of stumbled onto one by accident [yay! :-) ].
I suspect the price that DEC would charge you would be more than most of
us would like to pay, but maybe not...

Has anybody else out there had any experience with other RGB monitors
besides the Amiga and Sony units?
