;-) Just thought I would post a little warning/reminder/hint for everyone about the way AmigaDos currently handles the assignment of devices. Be very careful about how you name your disks, because the name takes precidence over the ASSIGN command and internal workings. A prime example of this came when I was cleaning up my disks the other day and was exchanging the disks in df1: and using "info" to tell me what they were, etc. Well, I stuck one disk in and typed in "info" and it came back with nothing, no error or anything, just nothing. Well, I typed it in a few more times to make sure it wasn't me and then rebooted the system to make sure it wasn't it. Well, to make a long story shorter, it ended up that the disks name was "C" to tell me that it was my C Compiler. Well, when AmigaDos went looking for the "info" command, it went to C:, which ended up the disk in df1: which was now named "C:" from its automatic assignment, and obviously didn't have any CLI commands on it. Another thing to watch out for is not to call a disk "df1:" or you will never find your second drive if the disk is in drive 0. Also, yet untried are the possibilities of naming disks "prt" or "par" or "ser". Be careful! p.s. We also recieved Aztec "C" today and will post a thorough overview soon! -- Craig Norborg (aka Doc Pierce) Uucp: { decvax, icalqa, ihnp4, inuxc, sequent, uiucdcs}!pur-ee!pucc-i!aic { decwrl, hplabs, icase, psuvax1, siemens, ucbvax }!purdue!pucc-i!aic { amd, dual, ihnp4, pyramid, zehntel }!ptsfa!well!drpierce USnail: 910 N. 9th street Lafayette IN 47904
