[net.micro.amiga] 5.25" drive success? story - help!!

Howdy once again folks! Well, I've been reading all of these fascinating
messages about hooking up 5.25" drives to the Amiga for weeks now. Last
night I said to myself, "Myself, why don't you do it yourself instead of
sitting here drooling like this?" So, I went down to my local Radio Shack
and got some connectors, cables, etc. and began to work. Nine hours and a
very sore back later, I emerged from my dusty basement with a little circuit
board with a DB-23 on one end and 2 34-pin drive connectors on the other.
"Yureka!" I cried. Anyway, to make a long story longer, I hooked it up and
after a little tweaking, everything seemed to work OK. The drive selects
worked, the motor latched, and AmigaDos realized that I had 4 drives (I had
shorted the RDY line to ground). But now comes my problem (of course). I
have two 80-track double-sided 5.25" (Shugart 460A) drives hooked up as DF2:
and DF3:. AmigaDos will let me try to Format, DiskCopy, etc., but there
is one little catch (isn't there always?): My drives can't keep up with
the 3 ms step rate of the 3.5" drives! They just sit there and grind and
grind and never go anywhere.

So, is there some kind soul out there (listening Amiga?) who would care to
tell me how to change the stepping rate in the disk drivers? I wouldn't mind
a 5 ms rate (which is what the 460As are rated at) on all of the drives too
much if it meant I could use 4 drives. Please help!

        Thanks!
