When Julia's body was discovered by Merle she was wearing a blue pendant.
Rinaldo wanted Merle to wear his ring, which he didn't wear himself. The
ring has some sort of unknown property. Bill doesn't know a lot he just
asks a lot of questions and then does some deductive reasoning. In the
earlier Amber series he does the same for Corwin.

Now for some trivia. In what Amber book did Roger Zelany make a cameo
appearance? Post to me and unless I am swamped with correct responses
I will post the names of those who knew.

Brand also walked the pattern to attune the Jewel.

Merlin and Luke had such a rivalry that I doubt either held back. Merlin
didn't know who Luke was, but I assume that Luke knew who Merlin was.
More than likely Luke would have loved to defeat him to show him up for his
father's memory. Ever read THE_ROMANCES_OF_D'ARTAGNAN by Dumas(actually
his series of the Three Musketters)? In one of the books the Lady de Winter's
son grows up and tries to take revenge for his mother's death. Luke acts
much like her son did. Also Amberites and those of Chaos are far stronger
than normal people but I have never read any incident of them holding back
their strength, in fact usually they display it and then try to cover it up.

Those driven by revenge can excede their normal capabilities.

Someone else mentioned the relation between the original Merlin and
his crystal cave and our imprisoned Merlin. How did Merlin get out
of his trap? I am reading La_Morte_da_Arthur in hopes of finding out.

Also does anybody know if Zelany is ever going to finish the Madwand
series? I really enjoy the relation between magic and music in that
series.

Sorry, read what I mean, not what I write!
The parallel between Dworkin and Corwin stems from the fact that they
both CREATED their pattens, not only walked them. And, as I remember,
ALL of the princes in Amber walked the Pattern ( and their children as
well -- like Merlin).

Well, as I remember it he *doesn't* get out. That is why he is
not there to prevent the final disaster with Mordred.
