  Help,
I purchased ARCHON a few mounths ago. It worked fine for the first
two weeks, then it started to heve trouble loading. Every once in
a while I would get a Guru Meditation. In a weeks time it would
no longer load/run at all. Hearing all the talk about problems
with EA's copy protection, I wrote a nasty letter with four part
harmony about responsibility to customer service etc., and
within a a week I got a replacment complete with the folder and
instructions (I had only sent in the disk). Soon as it got here I
poped in Kickstart 1.1 and then put the ACRHON disk in and just as
before I got a Guru Medition, #00000004.000018E8 to be exact.
The letter that came with the replacement said:
"... If you experience similar difficulties with this
new disk, there may be a problem with your computer
system. If that occurs, I suggest that you ask a
computer dealer to check your disk drive and/or
        computer for you."
Has anyone else had this problem? Any Gurus out there that can
give some insight. I'm about read to send it back in and ask for
Artic-Fox in return. Any advice would be appreciated.

The copy protection used by EA does *NOT* harm your drive. I have been
told this many times by personal conversations with the technical people
at EA that should know. The fact is that copy protection can bring a drive
that is marginal to light. The odds are EXCELLENT that if you are having
problems then something is not quite right with your hardware. A common
problem is a drive that is slightly out of alignment. I am not an employee
of EA and the views expressed are my own.

I just bought the ARCTICFOX program for my son. The next day I had the same
problem (less than 24 hrs) as you did. I called customer service and they told
me that this had happened before and they may have had a bad batch of disks. I
am sending mine in to get replaced.
