[net.micro.amiga] RGB monitors

gary@ssc-vax.UUCP (Gary J Albert) (03/28/86)

For the past month or so I have been using an inexpensive composite
monitor with my Amiga. As you can probably guess, this is
definitely not the highest quality display. Well, I'm about
ready to go buy an RGB monitor and I'm looking for some advise.

I have heard great things about one of the Sony models but
nobody has ever mentioned a price. Judging from some of the
talk here though, I suspect it is out of my price range.

I have also heard that there are two different models of the
Amiga monitor. If this is the case, what is the difference and
	which is better.

If anybody is using anything else that they might recommend, any
information is welcome. Please tell me what your using and what
the good and bad points are about it.

my son has the sony 1311??. it is very good. you also get a color t.v.
complete with remote control, etc.

47th. photo in new york city sells the sony for $520. it costs about 30-40$
for shipping. there is no sales tax.

the sony monitor is much better than the monitor than commodore sells. the
commodore is made by technics. the sony uses a black background and has
a 10% better pitch.

47th. photo has a 800 inwats number. i do not have it. dial 1-800-555-1212
and that will get you the number.

The Sony KV1311 goes for anywhere from $450 to $600, depending on the vendor.
Of the Commodore monitors the 1080 seems to be the "official" Amiga monitor,
(correct me if I am wrong). After the current "Buy an Amiga get the monitor
free" campaign there may be a few on the want-ads market. I have already seen
a couple advertised in the San Jose Mercury News want ads.
