From: Andy Poggio <poggio@sri-tsc.ARPA> Has anyone hooked up one of the Epson LQ series printers (especially the LQ800, but also the LQ1000 and LQ1500) to the Amiga? Any problems with using the parallel port or printing text or graphics (other than lack of color)? Are there any Amiga programs that will take advantage of the LQ series proportional font? And, of course, any general comments on the LQ800 are welcome. --Andy

I dont't have an Amiga but I just bought an LQ-800 for my C-128 and I am highly impressed with the print quality. It is LETTER QUALITY - not near letter quality - and that's at 60 char/sec. It obeys all Epson FX-80 commands when you use it with a wordprocessor. However, it will not work 100% correctly with graphics programs like Print Shop until the software manufacturer writes a printer driver for the LQ series. The printer output vertical line spacing is off by about 9/8. I am very happy with my purchase and I talked to Broderbund and they expect to support the printer on the next update of Print Shop. I believe the LQ series will be very popular and will be supported by a lot of software programs in the future. Bob Brown AT&T Bell Labs Holmdel, N.J.
