From: Mike (I'll be mellow when I'm dead) Meyer <mwm%ucbopal@BERKELEY.EDU> At the WCCF this weekend I ran into somebody who made the following two claims: 1) They worked for EA. 2) You could get a non-copy-protected version of Dpaint. Being a rabid anti-copy-protectionist, I decided to check, and just got off the phone after calling EA. Here's the scoop as EA tells it: 1) No, you can't get a copyable version of Dpaint now. 2) Yes, you will be able to get one in the future. 3) People who buy the package after the next format change will be offered a copyable backup copy. 4) People who have an older copy and still have their warranty card will be able to use that to etc. 5) People who have an older copy and have sent in their warranty should get such an offer in the mail. Cost will be $10 or $20, depending on which option you get, and it will start sometime in May (they gave me the time, but I lost it already). That same EA employee also claimed that there was a new version of Dpaint on the way, with features added after the authors saw Images. <mike
