[net.micro.amiga] ABasic INPUT bug?

blumberg@ihuxy.UUCP (Marc R Blumberg) (04/29/86)

Hello,

Well, last Thursday I finally broke down and bought my Amiga. Since
I'm waiting for the Manx C compiler (any news on this?), I am
currently stuck with ABasic. After trying some sample programs, I
have noticed that the INPUT statement doesn't work. Instead of
recognizing keys, there is a screen flash (a' la BEEP).
I seem to remember someone reporting this to the net some time ago,
but I can't find it in my log-files. Has someone else discovered
this? Am I doing something wrong? Am I doomed to writing programs
with no input? Please help. Thanks.

Concerning INPUT with Amiga Basic (Not AbasiC). Two points to consider,
if you are trying to do input and the screen just flashes at you, check
to see if you have selected that window. (Indicated by solid lines in
the Drag gadget) If not click the mouse in the window and try again.
* * BUG ALERT * * There is also a bug in MicroSoft's basic that causes
input to *only* go to the last window created, I have found no way to
change this. Thus if you have multiple windows create your dialog window
*last*. You can change which window output goes to but it does not
change the input pointers too!
