[net.micro.amiga] CBM64 goes where?

dokas1@swanee.OZ (dokas1) (06/11/86)

I'm sorry to use the Amiga's group net. but this was ze only way I can contact Commodore directly. I live in a somewhat small city and as far as I know we have no Commodore representative.
The question I have is as follows:
How is Commodore backing up CBM64 user?
I have read from this net. zat most of Commodore's engineers are more involved with ze development of Amiga. I appreciate zat Amiga represents	a major computer development for Commodore, but where does zis leave my little '64. I realize zat most people buy '64 for games, but I believe zis is a result of Commodore's promotion, however, zere are still dedicated '64 users who use zeir machine for ze reasons why computers were invented in ze first place.
Personally I do not see what's ze fuss about with zese new CBM computers	Amiga is a good Emulator of Un*x system, so what? I don't believe zey will replace Vax anyway.
Computing repreesents a challenge to me and zerefore I do not consider upgrading my '64 with a more powerfull machine. I'm studying Electronic Engineering but I'm still in ze early stages of my course, so zerefore some of my comments might be without justification (I'm sorry).
I would like to ask Commodore for instance why it didn't bring out proper Pascal for '64, why languages like Pilot, Forth which it did bring out are incomplete and are almost impossible to be used by a se- rious user. Why aren't zere any memory exansions available, why isn't zere anything to direct to ze signal to an RGB monitor, surely zere must	be a true column converter from 40 to 80, which can be compatibe with most programs zat would be 10000% better off.
It seems to me zat Commodore doesn't give a shi-t about ze people zat made it a household name. Zere are so many '64's out zere playing games zat it it almost makes you cry, because instead zey can be used for a much better purpose. I'm now studying ze inner world of computers and day by day reaize how complex zey machines are, and yet zey are put to use on an idea zat computers were designed primarily for games!
Maybe I just do not understand ze idea of Computer economy.

Maybe if Commodore was more intrested in maintaining support for zeir already developed machines, instead of keep on deloping new one's each year, it might be more respected by its users.

Another question zat I have is a confirmation one :
Is it true zat Commodore is going bankrupt, I obtained zis information from a Apple user (mickey-MOUSE computer user). I've read from zis net. zat many CBM engineers are `fired' or was zat I misinterpreted zese.
Someone just told me zat infact CBM have been keeping out of various computer shows, and zat zey had to get a gigantic loan to keep zemselves	healthy for a short amount of time?
Could it be zat ze giant of giants is finally collapsing?

I sincerely hope zat I get a reply from someone at Commodore, I would prefer to get mail instead of searching zis net. for ze answer. My address on Un*x is supplied above (I think) so please drop me a line or two or a full letter!
My name is Alex (or Sasha for European Commodore).
Sorry again to use Amiga's net. but I think I deserve a say.
(If zere are any spelling mistakes please ignore zem)
	I really hope I get a reply!
