[net.micro.amiga] PS on terminal emulators

cosell@BBN-PROPHET.ARPA.UUCP (07/13/86)

Whoops: I left out a bunch of 'VT100' things that the emulator has to
do -- such awfuls as scrolling regions, all the control sequences
(cursor positioning, etc). The problem here (as should be apparent)
is that the system I'll be dialing-into has a LOT of clever software
that knows lots about the terminal and that I'll have to continue to
be able to use. I'd like to be able to just 'tset vt100' and have it all
work.

I've just started playing around with AmigaTerm 1.0, which is supposed to
ship with the 1680 Amiga modem. It does a VT100 good enough for two
versions of EMACS we keep around here, and the CCALC spreadsheet on our
VAX. It also keeps up at 9600 baud, at least, supports graphic characters,
and has a 128 column mode (not quite 132, but much better than 80 at
times). Don't know if it'll sell as a separate package or not. It also
supports capture, XMODEM, and Compuserve B file transfers.
